Amid growing skirmishes between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army across the border, movement of vessels to and from Saint Martin's Island has been restricted, and supplies on the island are running low.

Island residents and traders say essentials such as rice, cooking oil, fuel and medicine are becoming harder to find, and prices of what remains have risen sharply. Boats that normally shuttle between Teknaf and the island several times a week have been operating only intermittently.
